Federal regulations governing service animals aboard aircraft

You have the right to have your service animal fly with you in the cabin when you fly on an American commercial aircraft.  It is in your interest to tell the airline that you will be traveling with a service dog, and that you are requesting bulkhead seating (in the first row of the section you are seated in) to accommodate you.

Here is the most relevant section of the regulations, as issued by the United States
Department of Transportation on October 8, 1996, and published in the Federal Register.
